A good thought. It brings home that even an ant is as important as everything surrounding it. Enjoy your day and week ahead.- Excellent photograph. Janet 🙂
Thank you, Janet. Wishing a good week.
this is a perfect example of this
Many thanks, Beth.
Cool shot and title!
Many thanks.
Something to think about. How do we measure up ?
That is a very big question, Beverly. I’m thinking we ‘could do better’. A good big dose of truth and integrity wouldn’t go amiss either.
Tish, I am sure you know about the sudden death of so many elephants in Africa. I am heart sick.
I didn’t know, Beverly, but now I do after a quick internet trawl. Thank you for the pointer, but what an appalling tragedy and seemingly no rush to determine cause.
A profound thought and a wonderful photo
Thanks, Thom. Am thinking it has quite a few angles to it.
I’m thinking you’re right
I’m thinking you could come up with a taut/caustic little fable???
Otherworldly! Just wonderful.
Merci mille fois, Monsieur Edouard. Hoping you and Mike and dogs are well.
We’re well confined 🙂
so very true, Tish and what a lovely macro! 🙂
Tish, this is such a brilliant capture. Beautiful 😀
Thank you, Cee 🙂
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you need to decide beyond the shadow of an ant.
Wonderful photo Tish. Your edit has something of an old sci-fi vibe — which in itself seems quite appropriate.
Sci-fi-vibe, yes, now you mention it, Su. I am in a very dystopic state of mind presently.
☹️
And a rather large shadow at that. Up so close, there’s quite a fairy tale look, I think.

The evening sunlight helped. I was thinking the scene was all a bit surreal. I was actually aiming at a monochrome shot of the artichoke and then I noticed the ant.
A fantastic shot, Tish – love it. I agree on the sci fi touch.
Thank you, Ann-Christine.
What a striking image, Tish. Pure art!
I agree!
Thank you, Becky.
Many thanks for that lovely comment, Dries.
They do indeed, they also leave a trodden path in places
And some of the little blighters bit me a lot when I harvested the artichokes. Surprisingly painful for such tiny mandibles.
ooh my mum is always getting bitten by ants. You must be as sweet as she is 😉
🙂 🙂 🙂
The Ant and the Universe. 🙂
They may well own it?!
Ah, that accounts for a great many things. 🙂
Reminds me of that childhood song about how the ant said it can’t but ends up doing things impossible things since they are small but mighty in strength. Size always provides some significance.
That’s an excellent piece of remembering, Pam.
I think you should create a poster of your ant shadow. I would hang it up in my classroom!
A poster. Now that’s a nice idea.
Congratulations! I have selected your post to be featured on Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge.

That is very lovely of you, Cee. You’ve made my day 🙂
Yippie 😀 😀
Brilliant!
