I gave this final photo a sepia look: the black and white contrast seemed too harsh, but that’s all I did to it. Where did the sky go? A case of a lost horizon? All in all, a rather strange photo, but then the Stiperstones ridge top is a very strange place…

Moody pictures. Darkness is appropriate for the Stiperstones.
I think the photo was taken in July too, and at midday. The quartzite outcrops seems to emit an odd aura too.
Lovely shots Tish, especially the two from Wales 🙂 I think the Stiperstones one didn’t take kindly to the Lumix setting which can be quite harsh at times. I used to use it but these days prefer to shoot in colour and convert as it gives me more options. Nevertheless it’s effective in a slightly odd way!
Thanks, Sarah. I take your point re. Stiperstones shot, but then it rather suits the weirdness of the place, plus the strange lack of daylight at midday when I took it.

I love my Lumix. I remember you had some tragedy with yours, but can no longer remember what it was. Irreplaceable?
Yes. It had a complete melt-down. My Canon Ixus is pretty good, though not for the b & w setting.
