It was about 5 a.m. and I had not slept all night. Desert sand is very hard on the hip bone, with or without a custom-made scoop-out beneath it. And our pop-up tent offered no defence against the loud snores of Geoff, our Tanzanian guide, who was sleeping in the open back of his Land Cruiser. But to walk out of the camp alone and up into the high dunes and watch the sun rise over Al Hajar āĀ instant rejuvenation remedy.
More desert views in the previous post.
What a wonderful experience.
It was. Thanks, Beverly.
Such a beautiful image, Tish! I can imagine drinking it all in. š š And strobelight! Good on you š

Beautiful image Tish; both the photo and that created by your words.
Thanks, Su.
I like the way you’ve been playing with light lately. Lots of good stuff appearing on these pages.
Thank for that nice comment, Thom. An antidote to months of gloomy weather perhaps.
Whatever the motivation, I’m enjoying it

There is something so very special about watching a sunrise when you know most people are still asleep – and what a breathtaking view you had for yours
Also being in a strange land adds another dimension – which is odd, given that it’s the same sun š¤
oh that’s so true . . . it almost feels like it is different sun sometimes!
the light of this early morning gives splendid colors to the landscape
Perhaps waking up so early was not easy, but you received a gift of divine light and an exceptional gift of nature
It was a gift, Yoshimi, That’s an excellent way of describing it.
That is a wonderful photograph of the mist and the sun’s rays.
Thank you.
Wow! This is a sunrise one doesn’t often get to see – stunning!
