Nice Symmetry ~ Symmetrically Nice

On the front

A flight of fancy was needed on this drizzly Shropshire day. So why not skip off to Nice for some dreaming Cote d’Azur light. And (somewhat loosely interpreted) take up Sofia’s this week’s challenge at Lens-Artists to look for all manner of things symmetrical.

The Promenade des Anges beside the glimmering Mediterranean seems a good place to start – glorious under the sun even in late October. And what could be more cheering than an azure avenue of beach brollies…

…glamorous by night:

…vibrant in its old town streetscapes, markets, palaces, churches, museums….even a sudden cloudburst doesn’t dampen its spirits…

and when the sun comes out again…oh, that light, shades of Matisse, Chagall, Dufy…

  1. I wish I was there too. Somehow you make Nice look a lot nicer than I remember…! Stunning photos, I love the first one, poetical in its mood, the one on the square with symmetries on the floor and buildings, the Modern Art Museum… brilliant post.

  2. Nice!
Brightens up a cold, drizzly and dark, “Yes, as a matter of fact we don’t have any power at the moment, thank you Eskom” jo’burg evening…

      1. This outage is the result of a cable failure, apparently.
Celeste mentioned at half seven she received a notification from one of the neighbours it should be sorted by eight and I was to keep an ear open for the power to return ( we are on a generator at the mo.)
Well .. it’s now 8: 30 and all I hear is the blasted noise from the genny outside in the storeroom!
You and G settling in all right?

  3. Tish, these are all great examples of symmetry. I have to say, though, that my favorite was that photo of the Musee d’Art Moderne. I loved those symmetrical lines.

  4. Terrific Tish! The umbrellas are great and I also really loved the amazing street scene with the wet symmetrical pavement against the symmetrical buildings. Super!

      1. You’re welcome! If you have any more questions or if there’s anything else I can help you with, feel free to ask. Many thanks for your appreciation! 🙂🌟

  5. I love the title too! And especially loved the place de Masena. The symmetrical tiles of the street are fantastic, along with the arches in the back. The purple building was a stunning example too. Very nice, Tish.
