They look very healthy! From the allotment?
Yes – from the polytunnel. I wished I’d put them outside though. They rather invaded the place.
Sort of all squashed up in a confined space you mean?
Oh, you! π
I smell squash pies baking! π Will be right over!
Well, they LOOK delicious!
I think I might have to try couple, Ron. They’re supposed be good baked whole and/or stuffed. Better not let the others know though π
They are adorable.
They look so cute. We see them in stores here near Thanksgiving but are sold as decorative pieces. I would be interested to know how they taste.
But aren’t they just too cute.
Like Sue, I see them sold as decorations and bought a couple along with some gourds for that very purpose. They’re quite cute.

Aw, they are sweet, but really you MUST eat one or two. I love squash. Unfortunately none of my attempts paid off so I shall resort to the supermarket for my fix. Gem squash are a favourite, but you rarely see those here.
I will!
Anything that looks that good must be tasty!
I’m going to have to give them a whirl aren’t I. I saw a recipe for them that stuffed ’em with crΓ¨me fraiche, chopped chard and chorizo, and then baked them.
They look so perfect, not a blemish on them and love the colour, but how big are they it is hard to tell from the photo…
Hello, Pauline. Of course no sense of scale in the photo! One sits easily on the palm of my hand π
So can you eat the skin as well, maybe in a stir fry?
Possibly when fresh-picked. The skin has dried quite hard now. I think the idea with them is to bake them whole and then scoop out the flesh with butter or olive oil.
Sounds π yummy
