You probably know this, but the ladies have a tiny zucchini (we call them courgettes) behind the flower, while the gentlemen don’t. It was a daft question to ask as I dare say you won’t remember what was behind that particular flower. I’m sure I would not.
It is so frustrating. I would have sown more but ran out of seed, and of course during lock-down impossible to order more. Still my beans and peas are making up for it this year!

Well as it happened I’d taken a pic from the outside as well, and yes, there looked to be a courgette forming there 🙂

So envious . . . .none of my courgettes germinated so for the first time for years my garden is without these delights.
That seems to happen some years. My germination rate for squashes wasn’t brilliant this year either. Had more than one go at most of them.

Yes the seed shortage was very frustrating. But good on your peas and beans.

mmmm – my Italian grandmother would batter and fry the flower, then sprinkle with Romano cheese. Yum!!
I’ve not tried cooking the flowers, but this sounds a very BIG yum.
