Christmas Day and it was almost dark at noon. And then, most eerily, the sun broke through a skylight in the cloud, lighting up a thread-like silver waterfall, and a single golden meadow.
Snowdonia, Wales across the Menai Strait from Anglesey (Ynys Môn )
That is such a magnificent photo
Thank you, Noel.
Stunning image!!
🙂 There is something about the weather or atmosphere along this strait that seems to create these extraordinary effects. They truly are other-worldly to behold, and I can well see why so many Celtic seers and early Christian anchorites settled on the island.
Wonderful capture!
Absolutely stunning.
So very beautiful:)
SSsssooo … beautiful. It looks like a magical sky in a fairytale book.
Great entry, Tish, for the challenge.
What a picture! You can see how the weather could have such a profound effect on our ancestors. I’d be a believer if I saw that shaft; did you see to coming?
Hello, Tony. I do agree with you about the effect of such a sighting. Nor was it the only beam – which was perhaps even stranger. It was such an oddly dark still day – and then suddenly there were the lights. More than a little like some supernatural visitation, and all without a glass of wine.
I think it’s called a ‘Natural High… Can’t be bottled
What a beautiful moment to witness.
It was extraordinary, Suzanne. At another moment there was also beam of light coming down further along the strait at the opposite angle.
Nature is really turning it on sometimes these days – I find times like Christmas, Easter, the solstices and the equinoxes have been exceptionally powerful over the past 3 years or so. Also some of the auroras with the recent solar flares are incredible. spaceweather.com is one of my favourite sites. It’s all enough to make you think we are definitely not alone in the cosmos 🙂
Amazing and spiritual! Some of my ancestors emigrated to America from Wales. I love seeing pictures of the country.
I am so happy to oblige too 🙂
Glorious! I always think of the glory of God descending to earth with photos like this.
janet
It does feel like that, Janet – whatever one’s beliefs.
Timing, as always, is everything. You’ve timed it perfectly Tish – beautifully done.
Thank you, Tina.
Whoops! Here come the aliens.
Did you really want another ”Oh wot a marvyluss pickchure,” comment? 😉
Yep, aliens are fine by me, It is a sort of ET shot in some ways. 🙂
Beautiful and marvelous photo Tish
