In Kenya, as in much of Africa, signwriting on shop fronts, in markets and on matatu mini-buses is something of an art form. I only wish I had collected more examples.

      1. I like the aged quality in some of your photos – it suits the ‘age gone by’ content. They would make great wall images if blown up – the first three or so in this series particularly

    1. Well, yes, the photos are a bit old, but the interesting thing I noticed was that all the 1950s and 60s formerly mainstream products in UK had somehow washed up in East Africa along with a reprise of artwork of the period. Fascinating the ways of marketing.
