…the hesperantha in the garden is STILL flowering – albeit translucently and only at her stem tips. She has been buried under a foot of snow for nearly a week, frozen and defrosted, and refrozen. Then we’ve had downpours and mighty windstorms. I don’t really know what to make of her, other than to give her a big round of applause. She’s been flowering continuously since August.
Well she is a tough little flower despite her delicate looks!
Wow! What a hard plant! Great picture too!
Thanks, Peter.
That’s one tough cookie! We are still waiting for ours to flower.
I’m wondering if ours is up for the next season’s round, or whether it intends to have a kip first.
I’ll see if I can post a photo of the state of ours tomorrow just for you to see. Looks pretty dormant at the moment showing a complete lack of interest in sprouting.
Maybe hesperantha has decided she prefers more frigid climes 🙂
Darn! I was supposed to take a photo, wasn’t I? I did have a squizz at it and it looks a bit the worse for wear after a couple of hailstorms over Christmas.
I can wait till it’s recovered 🙂
That’s inspirational, and a wonderful photo too!
Cheers, Thom. Does it inspire you to say a few creative words…
I can try – How about:
A Tanka for your Majestic Hesperantha
Indomitable!
Her spirit, stays dressed in frigid
droplets; that cling to
her diaphanous wear and
taunt the cold Welsh winter air.
Oh that’s excellent, Thom. You’ve caught her essence 🙂
Feel free to use it if the opportunity ever presents itself. Thanks for the kind words.
Thank you for your gift of words, Thom.
Masterful use of light. Just enough to hint at texture.
Ω
Many thanks, Allan.
So beautiful, so pure, like angels’ wings.
They look so fragile it’s hard to understand how they’ve survived all the weather.
What a tough little fighter!
Must be a hardy plant. Lovely photo Tish.
Beautiful and delicate is this flower, and very strong too.
What a wonder! And great photo…
Thanks, Sue.
The photo’s exquisite, Tish! 🙂 🙂
All that’s growing around here is my stomach! It’s January and I’ve opened the port. A little brie… maybe those chocs later… it’s a deadly month!
Yep. Too much food all round, and especially in the midriff area. Am now thinking fondly of lettuce in the polytunnel – though I won’t be there any time soon. I’m going back to bed. Hmph.
🙂 🙂
That first photo is a stunner, Tish. So delicate and transparent. Makes my hibiscus in sunlight image from this morning’s stroll look terminally ostentatious!
Was lucky with the light I think. Also that I found the macro setting on my Lumix camera. Duh! Only took me a few months to realise it was there on the dial.
A few months? By my standards that is instantaneous!
How remarkable is that? The photographs are really beautiful
Definitely remarkable. Though today she’s been battered by a night full of torrential rain. It will be interesting to see if she finally gives in.
Wouldn’t it be grand if we could all weather the storms of life like a simple flower.?Just really neat.
She’s an inspiration to us all, Beverly. Surviving with grace.
I think she is a magical fairy! Beautiful shots Tish.
Alison
There is definitely a feeling of the fairy who escaped from the Christmas Tree 🙂
Gorgeous composition.
Thank you.
Well, I’m impressed!
Thank you.
Tish, these shots are stunning. Wow!

Owe all to hesperantha 🙂
The pictures of the hesperantha are absolutely breathtaking Tish! I would hang them on my wall. She’s beautiful and quite hearty!
Many thanks for those kind words, Lisa. A hero flower, I think 🙂
Oh wow! I think that’s the most gorgeous thing I’ve seen all year., and maybe for a very long time.
That’s lovely to hear 🙂
Such perseverance and determination is inspiring. Bloom on!
Well done, and thanks for the floral beauty with such resilience.
Thank you, Sally.
Wow, that is one stubborn flower!! Would that we could all be so resilient. Lovely capture Wish
Sorry, spellcheck made my Tish into Wish without letting me know!
Other people have just the same spell checking problem, Tina. No need to apologise 🙂
Your picture is just amazing! What wonders there are in nature!
You can’t beat it can you – nature and its wonders 🙂
She truly deserves a big applause for her persistent optimism and beautiful composure in times of challenges 🙂 Gorgeous captures, Tish! Happy 2018!
What amazing photographs!
Hello Stephen. Happy New Year to you!
Such a delicate beauty that can be so tough and resilient. Looks deceive.
What a beautiful flower, Tish. It looks so exquisite, you got a great capture. We found ths first snow drops in the garden today. It’s getting much colder, but still no snow, unfortuneately.
Ah, the first snowdrops. That’s a lovely sight to think about. Happy New Year to your Fab Four.
How is that possible?! That’s truly one resilient flower to continue blossoming despite the weather elements.
