Come Hail, Gale, Snow, Frost, Rain And…

…the hesperantha in the garden is STILL flowering – albeit translucently and only at her stem tips. She has been buried under a foot of snow for nearly a week, frozen and defrosted, and refrozen. Then we’ve had downpours and mighty windstorms. I don’t really know what to make of her, other than to give her a big round of applause. She’s been flowering continuously since August.

      1. I’ll see if I can post a photo of the state of ours tomorrow just for you to see. Looks pretty dormant at the moment showing a complete lack of interest in sprouting.

          1. Darn! I was supposed to take a photo, wasn’t I? I did have a squizz at it and it looks a bit the worse for wear after a couple of hailstorms over Christmas.

      1. I can try – How about:
A Tanka for your Majestic Hesperantha

        Indomitable!
Her spirit, stays dressed in frigid
        droplets; that cling to
        her diaphanous wear and
taunt the cold Welsh winter air.

  1. The photo’s exquisite, Tish! 🙂 🙂
All that’s growing around here is my stomach! It’s January and I’ve opened the port. A little brie… maybe those chocs later… it’s a deadly month!

    1. Yep. Too much food all round, and especially in the midriff area. Am now thinking fondly of lettuce in the polytunnel – though I won’t be there any time soon. I’m going back to bed. Hmph.

  2. She truly deserves a big applause for her persistent optimism and beautiful composure in times of challenges 🙂 Gorgeous captures, Tish! Happy 2018!

  3. What a beautiful flower, Tish. It looks so exquisite, you got a great capture. We found ths first snow drops in the garden today. It’s getting much colder, but still no snow, unfortuneately.
